RLJ Spence Sr. Technical Scholarship Application

Kappa Youth Development, Inc. in conjunction with Mr. Reginald L. Spence will be awarding a scholarship in the amount of $1000 to an African American (Male or Female) graduating high school student majoring in a Technical or Science field (Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, Math etc.) Applicant must live in Prince Georges County or Southern Maryland, enrolled and attending a 4-year college or university during the 2025-2026 school year. Must have a high school cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the four-year RLJ Spence Sr. Technical Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a graduating high school senior.
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Apply and provide proof of acceptance to a college or university.
Criteria
In order to be considered for the award, all applicants must submit the following information:
From Applicant:
- The completed application must be typed and signed; an electronic signature is acceptable.
- The completed application essay must be typed. Essay is limited to 500 words. (See section 11 for more details)
- Student resume (1-2 pages) – outlines leadership, extracurricular activities, work experience, and any awards received.
- College information sheet – includes list of schools accepted to, intended major, and career interests.
- Acceptance letter from the college or university.
- A copy of your high school transcript must be included with your application.
Application deadline is 11:59pm on April 15, 2025 to be received by Kappa Youth Development, Inc. The scholarship application must be received by the Kappa Youth Development, Inc. on or before the application submission date and time deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
