Kappa Youth Development, Inc. in conjunction with Colonel William and Lorraine Bell will be awarding a scholarship in the amount of $1000 designed to support a graduating high school African American Male student that will major in the Social Science field (Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics, Human Geography, Linguistics, Management Science, Communication Science and Political Science.)
The applicant must:
1. Have attained a minimum cumulative high school G.P.A. of 3.0.
2. Must live in Prince Georges, Charles, Calvert or St. Mary’s County.
3. Attend a four-year college or university during the 2025-2026 academic school year.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the 2025 Colonel William and Lorraine Bell Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a graduating high school senior.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Apply and provide proof of acceptance to a four-year college or university.
Criteria
In order to be considered for the award, all applicants must submit the following information:
From Applicant:
- The completed scholarship application – typed and signed, an electronic signature is acceptable.
- Completed application essays – the typed Essays are limited to 500 words. (See section 11 for more details)
- Student resume (1-2 pages) – outlines leadership, extracurricular activities, work experience, and awards received.
- College information sheet – includes list of colleges or universities accepted to, intended major, career interests.
- Acceptance letter from college or university.
- A copy of your high school transcript must be included with your scholarship application
Application deadline is April 15, 2025 to be received by Kappa Youth Development, Inc. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
