Kappa Youth Development, Inc. will be awarding two (2) scholarships in the amount of $1000 to an African American Male graduating high school student (any major). Applicant must live in Southern Prince Georges County or Southern Maryland and will be enrolled and attending a 4-year college or university during the 2026-2027 school year. Must have a high school cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the Kappa Youth Development, Incorporated Scholarship, students must:
- Be a graduating high school senior.
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0.
- Apply and provide proof of acceptance to a trade school, college or university.
Criteria
In order to be considered for the award, all applicants must submit the following information:
From Applicant:
- Completed application – typed and signed, an electronic signature is acceptable.
- Completed application essays – typed Essays are limited to 500 words. (See section 11 for more details)
- Student resume (1-2 pgs) – outlines leadership, extracurricular activities, work experience, awards.
- College information sheet – includes list of schools accepted to, intended major, career interests.
- Acceptance letter from university.
- A copy of your high school transcript included with your application.
Application deadline is March 1, 2026 to be received by Kappa Youth Development, Inc. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
